We are a team of specialist nurses and non-medical prescribers who work within the Community Paediatric Service.
The ADHD Nusrsing Service work with children and young people from age 6 to 18 who have a formal diagnosis of ADHD and would like to trial or continue medication as a treatment option for supporting ADHD symptoms.
The role of our service is to monitor and manage ADHD medication in children and young people with a diagnosis of ADHD.
Prior to your child or young person's appointment we will send out a letter to school asking for an update and completion of a rating scale to better understand if the medication is working whilst your child or young person is in class.
The role of our service is to monitor and manage ADHD medication in children and young people with a diagnosis of ADHD.
Prior to your child's appointment we will send out a letter to school asking for an update and completion of a rating scale to better understand if the medication is working whilst your child or young person is in class.
We send out a letter with the date and time of your appointment, including a picture of the waiting room and the clinician your child or young person will meet.

Depending how old your child or young person is, they may be offered a chance to speak with a clinician on their own if they would like to.
We will need to do some checks, such as your child or young person's height, weight, blood pressure and pulse.

We will also talk about their physical health, how they are sleeping, their diet and activity levels. We will also discuss their mental well-being and any worries they have about side effects from their medication.

Any information shared in the review will be treated confidentially unless we feel there is a risk of harm, or we are worried about your child or young person's safety, or someone else's.
As part of our medication reviews, we may liaise with other services, complete onward referrals and gain feedback from schools to inform treatment plans.

ADHD medication review appointments are usually once every 6-12 months, but you can contact us in between times, although we are not an urgent or emergency service, so it can sometimes take us a few days to return calls. We will arrange appointments for patients under 10 more regularly.
We see young people at various locations across Norfolk.
Appointment sites include Norwich Community Hospital, King's Lynn St James, Swaffham Community Hospital, North Walsham Community Hospital, Attleborough Health Centre, Aylsham Health Centre, Long Stratton Health Centre and Thorpe Health Centre. Please advise us of your preferred location when appointments are made by our bookings team.
