Healthy Child Programme 5-19 Services During COVID

Due to the current situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have had to make some changes to the way we work in the community. We want to ensure that the families, children and young people that really need our support can still access help.

From 1st October 2020, we have updated the services that the NHS has agreed are essential for families.

From 1st January 2021, we will contact you if we need to make any changes to your current planned appointments.

Planned Appointments

Home Visits

  • During the COVID pandemic home visits will be kept as short as possible. You might find it helpful to make a list beforehand of any main questions or concerns.
  • Our staff will be wearing PPE; masks, aprons and gloves. We would be grateful if adults present for the visit wear a mask and if you could limit the number of people present in the room.
  • Please put any dogs in another room before you open the door. They are sometimes confused and may react unpredictably when visitors wear masks.

Video Appointments

  • Video appointments are completed using a secure NHS platform.
  • Visit our video appointment page to find out more or join your appointment.

Just One Number & Parentline

Our Healthy Child Programme team can help you by providing health advice and information about your baby, child or young person. They are able to support you over the telephone, video call or text. You can also call Just One Number to change appointments or update your contact details.

This service is available from Monday – Friday 8am to 6pm and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. The phone line can get very busy sometimes but you can leave a voicemail with your details, and a member of the team will call you back as soon as possible.

ChatHealth 07480 635060

ChatHealth is a secure NHS approved text messaging service for 11- 19 year olds.

All you need to do is text 07480 635060 to start a conversation. You will receive a response from a health practitioner. They are able to answer any messages and offer confidential support and advice to young people.

ChatHealth is available 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am - 1pm on Saturdays. Any messages sent outside these hours will receive an automated response letting young people know when they will receive a reply and who to contact to get immediate help.

Starting High School

It is recognised that transition to high school is a big event for children and families. It signals a time when children are changing developmentally and starting to become more independent.

It is normal to have a few worries and nerves but most children cope well with starting high school. To support you we have a lot of information here on Just One Norfolk. We have also created a quiz to work through that provides a fun way to explore together with your child some of the new experiences they may face.

We know everything's a little bit different this year so Norfolk young people, families and professionals have helped us put together lots of extra information and advice to support families and young people with the transition.

16-19 Health Passport App

The Just1Norfolk Health Passport has been developed to support Norfolk 16-19 year olds make the transition into adulthood and to help young people become more independent with their own health needs. The app provides general health information and advice on a variety of topics!
