Safe Sleep 6+ Months

Once your baby is over 6 months you might start to think about them sleeping in their own room. It’s quite a big step, there really is no hurry – do this when you all feel ready for the change.

You might feel worried about your baby sleeping away from you but there are things you can still do to help with safe sleeping.

Things You Can Do to Help

  • Ensure you have a firm cot mattress and don’t use duvets or pillows.
  • Ensure you lay baby on their back to sleep – once your baby can roll or move they will find their own comfortable position
  • Ensure baby is placed at the bottom of the cot so they are unable to wriggle down into their blankets.
  • Ensure the room is between 16 and 20 degrees and baby is not too hot or cold.
  • Ensure the cot is clear of toys, teddies and cot bumpers are not recommended.

Who Can Help?
