Speech & Language

Higher Level Language

Create and encourage opportunities to talk without making your child feel under pressure. Mealtimes can be a good time for this.

Remember to give everyone an equal chance to talk about their day. This helps develop listening and waiting skills too.

If there are words and phrases they find difficult to understand, explain them or look together in a dictionary for the meaning.

Showing that you are interested by making time to listen is important for encouraging these skills to develop.
