Briefing from Chris Robson - Safer Sleep Week

RE: Safer Sleep Week, All Babies Cry and Protecting Babies Strategy

Dear Colleagues,

This week is national Safer Sleep week, which is an important time in the calendar for the Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership, as it gives us the opportunity to really highlight and promote the most recent advice available to families.

Locally, we have a dedicated campaign called ‘Safer Sleep’. This year we are launching a refreshed look, with updated support and advice hosted on JustOneNorfolk.nhs.uk.

In Addition, we are also promoting ‘All Babies Cry’, which launched late last year and has been well received by Norfolk families. The updated message in this campaign highlights the online community forum  and safety plan template for families.

Both campaigns are part of the protecting babies’ strategy, which is a system wide initiative that aims to offers families more support and consistent advice at every opportunity.

How can you help?

I am asking for your support with the following:

  1. Share updates with families – if you have an update, newsletter or blog that is sent out to families, please include this information. A template article is available to download.

  1. Share the messages on social media – please share and like any messages you see. Also available on the ‘Protecting Babies’ resources portal are ‘Safer Sleep’ template posts and videos. There are updated ‘All Babies Cry’ messages in the portal as well.

  1. Share updates with other professionals – if you have an internal update or a newsletter that is shared with colleagues, please share this message. A template update is available to download.

‘All Babies Cry’ has a new professional’s guide that has been created to support conversations with families please download and share this as well.

  1. Sign up and join the dedicated professionals’ webinars – Whilst both campaigns are for families it’s an important as professionals we take an active role to normalise both these issues. To find out when the next ‘All Babies Cry’ sessions are scheduled, please visit: org/nscb-booking/nscb-booking-training/ *Safer Sleep’ training dates will be announced in the summer.*

Thank you all for your continued support and help. If you have any questions or would like to be more involved, please just contact our campaign team on: ccs.cypsnorfolk@nhs.net

Kindest Regards

Chris Robson
