Medical Health Needs

Your child or young person should have all the same opportunities as their friends. If your child has medical health needs, they can sometimes worry about this and wonder how their care will continue while in school. You may also have concerns.

Things You Can Do To Help

  • Speak to the school or nursery they are attending
  • Speak to the health professional who is leading your child’s care
  • Write down what you do to support your child each day. This can help form a plan which highlights areas where your child needs assistance whilst at their nursery, preschool or school.

Who Can Help?

You can contact the Healthy Child Programme by calling Just One Number on 0300 300 0123 or texting Parentline on 07520631590. Our opening hours are 8am-6pm Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays) and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

To speak to other Norfolk parents and carers, you can join our online community forum. CLICK HERE

The medical needs coordinator is employed by the local authority and is responsible for the education of children with additional needs. You can find out more about this role here
