Health Visitors are registered nurses who have completed extra training in family, public health. They are there to give advice and support on health and development and help you become confident parents.
All families are contacted by a health visitor when they have a new baby. They may have met with you during your pregnancy but if your baby was born early you may not meet them until afterwards. Health visitors are usually in touch when your baby is 10-14 days old. They can arrange to see you either at home or meet you at the hospital. If you have questions before this you can call Just One Number.
They work as part of Norfolk Children and Young People’s Health Services. This provides ‘The Healthy Child Programme’ to support Norfolk families with children aged 0-19. You can read more about the services available *here*.
